What is the Auxiliary?
Children's Care Auxiliary is dedicated to helping meet the needs of special children. The Auxiliary was founded in 1952, the year the Children's Care Hospital and School was founded. Some very special women realized a need to provide funds for the physical, educational, social, and daily needs of children with special needs. Today the Auxiliary has more than 55 active members.

What does the Auxiliary do?
The Auxiliary's primary objective is to raise funds for Children's Care. Annual events include the Mall Walk and the spring Table Wear for Children's Care.

Auxiliary ‘Wish List' funding
Each year a ‘wish list' is created by the children and staff detailing needed equipment and items. After careful consideration, the Auxiliary determines how best to meet these needs. Gifts of equipment, supplies, and special programs include:

State-of-the-art education supplies to enhance curriculum and hands-on learning
Aquatic toys for Adaptive Aquatics
Special Olympic uniforms
Vocational training equipment and special outings
Computers, software, and art supplies
Music therapy program
Therapy equipment for physical, occupational, and speech therapies and evaluations
Adaptive devices for wheelchairs and adaptive/accessible equipment.

Special needs funding
The Auxiliary also helps our children with urgent special needs. The Special Needs Fund provides medical care, special outing trip expenses, eye glasses, school pictures, and special equipment for home care needs.

Auxiliary events

Mall Walk
The Mall Walk, begun in 1994, is held annually in early February. The event raises funds through corporate sponsors, donations, and pledges from walkers.

In addition to raising dollars, the Mall Walk also raises awareness of Children's Care. Corporate teams, family and friend teams, and plenty of children join our kids for fun and exercise. We ‘walk and roll' at the Empire Mall, encouraging participants to walk up to five laps around the mall-equaling six miles!

Table Wear for Children's Care
The Annual Table Wear for Children's Care involves a friendly table-scaping contest, fabulous luncheon, and a style show like no other. Enjoy entertainment and our Children's Care Hospital & School children modeling the latest fashions.
