PHYSICAL THERAPY RESOURCES FOR SOUTH DAKOTA
According to the American Physical Therapy Association, “Physical therapists are the movement experts. We help people move forward. We help people who have had a stroke or an amputation regain their independence. We help children with cerebral palsy improve their overall function and participation in life. We help people move forward. Movement is essential to our everyday lives. Having the ability to move safely and effectively is crucial in our lives and the lives of the people physical therapists treat. The physical therapy profession empowers people to move forward and take control of the movement that is so important in all of our lives.”
Our physical therapy teams in Sioux Falls and Rapid City perform a variety of evaluations in order to determine each person's ability to move. These evaluations also determine each person's potential for learning new movement skills or in determining if therer is adapted equipment or assistive technology that will the the person's ability to move about. Such areas include evaluation of gross motor skills and development, gait assessment, functional mobility skills, torticollis (tightness of neck muscles), and the need for foot orthotics.
Our physical therapy team in Sioux Falls and Rapid City treat a variety of movement abilities and disabilities, based on the results of the evaluations. Treatments can consist of stretching, strengthening, gait training, balance training, gross motor development activities, and functional mobility skill training, as well as education and instruction on the use of wheeled mobility, use of an assistive device and use of adapted edquipment or assistive technology.
In addition to traditional physical therapies, we offer specialized evaluation and treatment in the following areas:
- Pediatric Incontinence/Bed Wetting/Potty Training
