Celebrity Hunt for a Cure

hunter-logo-smBecause of its service to children with special needs, Children’s Care has been selected as a beneficiary of “Celebrity Hunt for a Cure,” an annual pheasant hunt near Pierre. The hunt is sponsored by Hunter’s Dream for a Cure Foundation, which was created by Robb and Wendy Nelson of Colorado in memory of their son, Hunter. Hunter had the rare brain disease Sturge-Weber Syndrome and died unexpectedly of a seizure in May 2005. He was five years old. The “Hunter’s Dream for a Cure” foundation has raised over one million dollars for children’s charities, to “make sure other families do not have to go through the ultimate tragedy of losing a child,” says Robb.

Skills like these are essential to everybody. In our society, schools don’t really teaches them because we are expected to pick them up, while academics are given more priorities than life skills. You guys are really doing a great thing.

"After six months of physical therapy with Becky Rippe of Children's Care through the Birth to 3 Program, our son Jackson is performing at his age level in terms of his gross motor skills. Becky was fantastic with him, and was ALWAYS very encouraging. We feel very blessed and thankful that we chose to have him complete this program."
