Helping Sam to Soar

SoaringWe’re proud to pass on the kind words that came to us recently from a family whose son we serve.  Our staff worked with him during our ESY (Extended School Year) which occurs during the summer.

As parents we are aware of our children’s vulnerability out in the world.  Whether it’s because they can’t see or hear, or are prone to seizures.  There are many ways our children can get hurt.  Our bad experiences reinforce our fear that the world can be an unsafe place for special children with needs.  To us the world is full of obstacles and challenges.
Yet our communities are filled with people who know, are related to, or who work with people with disabilities.  Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents with Sam and our family.  While the world can be a dangerous place, it is also a community with many caring and special people.  Your love for the children you work with shines through in all that you do.  We appreciate your compassion, kindness and for helping Sam to soar this summer at Children’s Care Hospital & School.  We look forward to the upcoming school year!”

God Bless,
Jeff, Erin and Sam Horstmeyer

The family goes on to cite 2 quotes:

“One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.”
-Helen Keller

“We cannot fashion our children after our desires, we must have them and love them as God has given them to us.”
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"I'm so impressed and happy with the lessons Lisa and Jamie have provided in Adaptive Aquatics. They are by far, the best lessons the girls have ever received. I am very grateful."
