HAMSTERS USA RAISE OVER $282,000 FOR CHILDREN'S CARE IN RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTAPOSTED: AUG 09, 2011
Funds were raised through a silent auction and the raffle bike, which was an RSD Harley-Davidson created by bike builder Roland Sands and donated by Justyn Amstutz of National Powersports Auctions. The raffle winner was John Roshala of Poway, CA, who donated the bike back to Children's Care.
Hamsters USA has raised and donated funds at their annual meeting for the last five years, wanting to give back to the greater Black Hills community, which many Hamsters consider to be their second home.
John Christner honored with 6th annual Chrome Heart Award
Hamster member John Christner of Sapulpa, OK, was stunned and touched to receive the Chrome Heart Award, presented by Children's Care to honor individuals in the motorcycle world "whose philanthropic support and civic duty represents everything positive in the industry and sport of motorcycling."
Christner, who owns John Christner Trucking, Inc, supports many charitable organizations in addition to Children's Care, including the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, the Tulsa Boy's Home "Run for the Roses" event, the United Way of Oklahoma, the North Texas Food Bank, Vaccine Awareness, and St. Mary's Food Bank of Arizona. He also started a Pay it Forward program with his employees, in which he gives $100 to 75 of his employees and asks them to "pay it forward" by giving it to someone else who needs a hand up. Christner has persuaded 55 other trucking companies to do the same, to help create a sense of hope and belonging in those communities.
Thanks to Hamsters USA and all who supported this fundraising effort for Children's Care of Rapid City!
