TONE MANAGEMENT CLINIC FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS NOW AVAILABLE AT CHILDREN'S CARE, RAPID CITYPOSTED: AUG 30, 2012
Individuals in the Rapid City area with tone management challenges will now have the advantage of the specialized TEAM (Tone Evaluation And Management) Clinic, led by rehabilitation physician Julie Johnson, MD.
TEAM Clinic will be held quarterly at Children's Care, Rapid City, and begins today, August 29. Clinic appointments include time with Dr. Johnson, collaborating with one or more Children's Care specialists, including a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, orthotist, prosthetist, or equipment technician. Team members are experienced in treating patients with tone and mobility issues, and are available beyond clinic appointments for quality care for children or adults. Individuals using splints, braces, or wheelchairs can often have their equipment customized at the same visit.
Diagnoses may include cerebral palsy, developmental delays, spasticity, hypotonia, torticollis, movement disorders, hemiparesis (stroke), brain injury, and congenital brain malformations. On-site treatment options include rehabilitation therapies, baclofen pump management, durable medical equipment, orthotics and prosthetics, referrals for surgical interventions, and medication management.
Dr. Johnson is the Medical Director for Children's Care Hospital & School in Sioux Falls, and is also on the staff of Sanford Children's Specialty Clinics. She has had oversight of rehabilitation programs at Children's Care for nearly 15 years, and consistently receives the highest satisfaction scores from patients. She has led a TEAM Clinic at Children's Care in Sioux Falls for several years.
