Improve your child's articulation skills in this intensive program, targeted at improving intelligibility and improving use of difficult sounds.
Language Equestrian Camp
June 4, 6, 13, 18, 20 & 25
Time: Six one-hour sessions; Individually scheduled
Cost: $250
Improve your child's language skills in a fun environment. Kids will work 1-on-1 with a speech language pathologist, using the stimulus of horseback riding and interaction with animals to facilitate expressive and receptive language and pragmatics. Geared for children 5 years and up.
Socialize in the "Sense"ational Hills
July 12-August 2
Time: Thursdays 9am-11am
Cost: $150
Designed for children who have difficulty with aspects of social skills and sensory processing. The group will explore various activities that families may do together in the Black Hills. Improve your child's communication and social skills, while exploring sensory activities, such as hiking, climbing, and water play. Parents should plan to be present and involved in sessions.
Power Reading & Spelling
Session 1 (Mon. & Tues.) June 11-28 Cost: $120
Session 2 (Mon., Tues. & Weds.) July 9-26 Cost: 175
45 minute sessions; Individually scheduled
For children ages 5-14. Goals will be individually developed with the child and family and may be geared at phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and spelling. A speech-language pathologist and master's level special educator will provide one-on-one attention to address your child's needs, using structured, interactive, and multisensory activities.
Little Learners language group
July 9-August 1
Time: Mondays & Wednesdays
Toddlers: 8:30-10:00; Preschool: 10:30-12:00
per session; Individually scheduled
Cost: $130
Encourage language skills in a group for your toddler or preschooler. The kids will have fun and work at improving areas of expressive and receptive communication in a small group led by a speech language pathologist.
Handwriting
July 23-August 2
Time: Monday-Thursday; 3:00-4:30
Cost: $175
This small group for children entering 1st & 2nd grade will be aimed at improving handwriting skills in preparation for the upcoming school year. The group will utilize the Handwriting Without Tears program to focus on lower case letter formation. Occupational therapists will guide the group, as well as lead activities for improving upper extremity strength and visual perceptual skills.
Breakfast Club
June 4 - July 31
Time: Tuesdays - 8:00-9:15
Children will enjoy a multi-sensory group designed to encourage food exploration and increase tolerance of textures and smells while improving oral motor skills. "Picky eaters" will interact with a variety of foods through literature, music,
movement, art, and snack. This medically based camp will be led by an occupational therapist and a speech-language pathologist. A doctor's referral is needed, and insurance may apply. Call for details.
Writing Palooza
July 3-July 19
Time: Monday & Wednesdays; 8:00-9:00
Cost: $75
This small group for 4 and 5-year-olds will focus on developing the skills necessary for coloring, drawing, and basic writing. Children will use a variety of manipulatives to create upper case letters. Occupational therapists will guide the group in fun motor activities to develop strength and visual perceptual skills necessary for school success.
